A Bit About Bindi
Some might say that Bindi was born to work with animals. She is the daughter of the famous Australian animal conservationist, Steve Irwin (known as the “Crocodile Hunter”) and his wife, Terri. Bindi claims Australia Zoo, arguably the most famous zoo in Australia, as her home. To say that Bindi grew up around animals and loving animals is an understatement!

Yet, Bindi has a love for animals that is all her own. This love comes through in her writing, in the interviews that she gives, and even in how she treats the animals themselves. Animals are all wonderful creatures, beautifully designed, and each of us have a responsibility to do what we can to take care of them.
A quick glance at Wikipedia will show you Bindi’s list of accomplishments: awards, television appearances, movie roles, music, and more. It is truly an impressive list for someone in their early 20’s!
But as I was reading over this list of accomplishments, one thing stood out very clearly to me: Almost everything that she does is either centered around wildlife or centers around bringing wildlife conservation efforts to light. Every award, every television appearance always references her work and her family’s work to protect animals and help them thrive in their natural environments.
The thing that really struck me the most is Bindi’s passion for what she does. You can tell that she is not just saying memorized lines. She truly has a passion for all animals and a huge desire to share her passion with the world. Bindi has a very unique opportunity to be known by the world and to share her passion for living creatures with a much bigger audience than most people could dream of having!
And many years ago, this passion for introducing the world to the incredible animals that we share this world with spilled out with pen and ink and the 20-book ‘Bindi’s Wildlife Adventure’ series took shape.
Books Filled with Adventures

Our family first stumbled across Bindi’s Wildlife Adventure Series when my girls were all about koalas and kangaroos. Now, it is possible to find many books about kangaroos and koalas, but this one caught my eye in particular for a couple reasons: First, it was telling the story of an Irwin, a family with a well-deserved reputation for loving and taking care of animals. Secondly, it was written from the perspective of a young girl. Think about that for a moment: A book about a young girl’s adventure helping to save koalas, written from a young girl’s point of view that will be read by young girls. And this book not only tells all about the animal, but the adventure that this young girl had the incredible opportunity to go on to help rescue these incredible wild animals.
The concept alone was too intriguing to pass up, so we borrowed the books from the library. I could see right away that my girls were hooked! And yet, it wasn’t just the animals that grabbed their attention, but the opportunity to go on a grand adventure with someone close to their own age and help these animals that really sealed the deal.
Where else could you work side by side with doctors in a wild animal rescue clinic as they work to help koalas and kangaroos that had been hurt by bush fires in Australia?
Where else could you tramp through the jungles of Indonesia looking for poachers who are bent on harming the very tigers that you are trying to help save?

Where else could you ride on horseback through the savannas of Africa helping to save kudu?
Where else could you photograph snow monkeys in the mountains of Japan and unearth a startling mystery?
Where else could you hike through the forests of Alaska looking for the incredible Kodiak bears and saving them from people who want to hunt them down?
And the best part of all is that these books are not just written for girls. Robert, Bindi’s brother, plays a large role in each story which, aside from adding some comic relief, also endears these books to boys.
Since that day that we first borrowed the book from the library, we have added this series to our personal library and I’m not sorry that we did! These books have been the source of many hours of adventure, entertainment, and enjoyment for everyone in our family – and not just the ones under 15!
In their Own Words
I don’t want you to simply take my word for it, though. Here’s what my children think about Bindi’s Wildlife Adventures in their own words:
Ever since I picked up the first book 3 years ago, I have been intrigued and amazed at how adventurous Bindi Irwin can get. I love Bindi and how much she loves animals, especially since I am a big animal lover, too. My favorite book is the third book, ‘Brushfire,’ which is the very first book I read in this series. I love how Bindi and Robert and all the Irwins care for animals and go to help them in bushfires and all these tragic things. They help them no matter what the consequences.
Jessie, age 11

I like how Bindi and Robert save the Komodo Dragon. I like how Bindi is close to my age and I love the adventures that she goes on in the books. And I love how she loves animals because I love them, too. And Robert is pretty cool, too.
Violet, age 9
I love it. Because it’s cool and it’s about animals. I like that Robert is in the book. Robert likes crocodiles and that’s just cool.
Josh, age 7
